Donald Trump on Saturday declared that the U.S. "should have nothing to do with" fighting in Syria, prompting outrage among some experts.
"Syria is a mess, but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT," Trump said on Truth Social.

Summary
Donald Trump declared on Truth Social that the U.S. “should have nothing to do with” Syria, sparking criticism from experts.
Critics noted that 900 U.S. troops are currently stationed there, assisting Kurdish forces to prevent an ISIS resurgence.
Experts fear Trump may withdraw these troops, potentially destabilizing the region.
Analysts warn this stance reflects a shift toward a reduced U.S. global influence, with some seeing it as a preview of a post-American global security order.
Critics also question Trump’s understanding of U.S. involvement in Syrian affairs.
This is his strategy. He thinks diplomacy is just walking into the boardroom and saying "alright, what do you want" so long as it's not YOUR stuff you're giving up. Trump is perfectly happy to give up OTHER PEOPLE'S STUFF, other people's territory and homes and even lives so long as it's not HIS stuff, HIS territory, HIS life.
Yeah its because Baby Bashir is done for and Russia just lost something important it used there, an airbase and ports. Everything Trump does is to help enemies of the United States or himself and his buddies. This is absolute obvious corruption and its madness we are going there again.
Well, he did chicken out from Afghanistan, and threw in warm overtures to the Taliban at camp David. Might as well get in the Syria act too. Let's have the other superpowers take a turn in geopolitics.
Oh they know. As one of them explained it to me 20 years ago, they always knew it was temporary. They accept American help when given but do not make plans to depend on it. They did that once and got slaughtered by Saddam.
I have no doubt. But also, one of the signs of our soul is how we treat them. They're allies who share many ideals with us in an unstable region and just want democratic autonomy. They keep helping us. When we fail them we prove ourselves worthless to the world
We didn’t want to get involved in Syria, but we literally couldn’t avoid it because the US created ISIS, a group that was born in the power vacuum left in the aftermath of the Iraq war.
I just can't with him anymore. God forbid HTS, the Remnants, and the Kurds be allowed to form a stable government. Because of course Bibi is also bombing targets inside Syria with no pretense of them being Iranian anymore.
I need to get that Samuel L. Jackson clip on my phone and at the ready, so I can play "Yes you did! YES YOU DID!" at the magabrained that are all pikachu face over voting for donvict.
Speaking as a Middle Eastern guy, the one place in the region I don't mind US presence in is Syria until we see a strong government that can stop ISIS and their ilk. I'd say he's getting the US out of places it doesn't need to be if we see him evacuating (for example) Iraq, the Gulf or Jordan (not listing Israel because that one is never going to happen).
he didn't do them for the policy choice. he did them because he's a greedy asshole doing favors for his 'buddies' in exchange for 'services' and 'funding'.
What's good for the feather is good for the flock in this case, then. If Trump has incentive to get American troops out of places they don't need to be, so be it. It's much preferable to the politicians who have an incentive to put American troops in places they don't need to be
