Despite Mushroom Kingdom propaganda, they're actually one of the only kingdoms that runs elections! Bowser just always wins because he's both popular and immortal. I hope they manage to pass their version of the BeanBean Kingdom's Rights of Sexual Relations And Inter-Minion Romance, I hear goomba and koopa couples are accepted there but isn't protected under law yet.
The unelected monarch Princess Peach has been repeatedly kidnapped and interrogated by Bowser's forces, but they are unable to actually do anything to her due to her highly funded super-soldier programme and the pretense of diplomacy. If it wasn't for class traitors like Mario the Mushroom Kingdom might actually have an election system by now.
