The amount of dumb mistakes I make in it makes me angry.
Like I keep accidentally tanking with my Wizard
I don't quite understand why damage is so inconsistent
and why I have to do a long rest after every battle to cast more spells
and why I keep casting my AoE spells when my party members are near my target
and everything that isn't stone or metal burns
and I can't make friends with Shadowheart and the other clerics and I don't think her being a follower of Shar is necessarily a good.thing but it's better than a ithilid?
You're not supposed to long rest after every battle, you're supposed to use a lot of cantrips and try to save your spells for moments when they're needed, like potions. Or in the case of Warlocks, you regain spells on a short rest. Also Circle of the Land Druids do too. Sorcerers rarely run out of spells at higher levels, but the trade off is that they get fewer spells, so if you want to cast all of the time in combat you want a sorcerer who has a pile of nearly-always-good spells like Magic Missile, Chromatic Orb, Fireball, etc.
Which means the problem I am currently having is...I'm a gamer first. As a gamer, I hoard shit until the very last battle because what if I need it, and then I try not to use anything in the last battle either because what if I need it.
Only as recently as literally today have I consented to ease the fuck up on my own white-knuckled grip and it was fun as hell, but it's requiring constant inner turmoil while I bargain with myself about every resource I have. I'm mad at myself because I chose druid for a reason, I LOVE being a druid, and I rarely encounter anything bad enough to make me use wildshape. I can get by without such extreme measures, surely.
I fully realize I can rest absolutely whenever and I am able to buy or steal more stuff if necessary. Apparently, when I reach Baldur's Gate, I intend to open a grocery store.
(none of this is a complaint, by the way. This is a Me problem that I intend to rectify, and I'm sure my evil playthrough will be bomb as fuck.)
Oh yeah that really sucks. I’ve definitely set fire to a few ladders. There’s one in the underdark with a trap at the bottom that sets fire to it if you’re not careful that is just sadistic.
