Fucking ad for a Spyware infested piece of shit
My parents use some, they spam my PCs fucking firewall logs like hell. They also regulary get silent updates which make them slower and slower and slower (which shouldn't be possible because it's freezing all the time)
- You should sideload Kodi or Jellyfin on it for them.
No thanks. It's all about data harvesting and ads now.
There was a time it was a neat product, but Amazon tech isn't entering our household anymore.
- Honestly it's just a glorified Google TV with a nicer remote. I feel like the only Fire TV device that might be interesting enough to consider buying would be the Fire Cube or the Fire Recast but IDEK if they still work anymore.
  
  While based on Google TV, they lock down the OS, control the app store, and force their apps. You're in their walled garden and it's a pain to break out in any meaningful way.

  I used to be into that, but Kodi started to become a pain after all the streamer quality got low, I had to pay for RealDebrid just to get a decent stream, I never quite got sports streaming to work with any of the apps, and the Firestick itself got ungodly slow over time.
  I have PCs hooked up to all my TVs, so if I can’t find something on my streamers I can just open up my browser and google a solution.
Fuck Amazon.
No. I don't give my money to Amazon. Fuck them.
If there were a way I could load Lineage on it, maybe. Not interested in a device locked to Amazon's firmware.
