I'm not too familiar with different TV OS, but even just DNS blocking would still work for that. DNS blacklists are not enough to block ads on native clients, as they are being served from the same domain.
If they start embedding ads into the stream, then it will have to move to SponsorBlock style community blocking, but technically still viable.
The only reason I know is because I primarily watch YouTube on my TV. People have pointed out to me that you can side load clients onto your TV, and they're right, but I'm inclined to at least wait until my warranty expires before doing so.
