I think it's important to note that if you only read headlines here, you might think there was overwhelming disapproval from the firefighters union. If you get your news from right wing rags, you don't hear the boos, you only hear the cheers. I'd say it was pretty mixed listening to the video, in fact more cheers than jeers.
