I've been using the releases from github for a while, but this is a great step towards availability for many.
We really need to think about a better name than "Early access". At this point I think I've used Lawnchair for about 5 years, 5 years after the initial event is only "early" in the context of geological eras.
I thought so! When I saw this my first thought was "wait, isn't that the one I used to use several years ago?"
Yeah, it is. Ended up not being compatible on a new phone is why I switched, I think..forgot about it after.
I mean even for video games, early access just means "release, but we openly tell you it's unfinished and buggy".
For board games, it das you went to retail instead of Kickstarter where you'll get your game 6 months later and paid more for it.

Well it might have been 3 years or might have been 7, I don't remember exactly. 5 was my best guess!
To me this is a feels like a full blown release as I've been using the beta, alpha, the builds on a fork of one of the maintainers github fork, ... All of them with very few issues.
The first version (or I guess second? It's called V2) has been available on google play for many years as mentioned by @Jrockwar@feddit.uk but isn't updated anymore. I have a Pixel 3a so still use it but this new one is not the first release or anything.
Why is it still not on F-Droid?
Also, for all the customization it can do, man those are some ugly and generic screenshots.
Not being a Debbie downer but what's good/different about this launcher?
You can remove the Google search bar and replace it with the one of your choice.
Feels somewhat close to the Pixel launcher, with icon packs support, with a couple of extra features and doesn't belong to a company that is trying to monetize it to hell.
I'll be honest with you, this looks awesome. Unfortunately the amount of setup is more than I'm willing to put into a tool. I'll stick with Kvaesitso for now.
How does it play with folding phones?
Last I checked, it didn't allow additional widgets from apps, like tasker task shortcuts or firefox webapps. Quite disappointing as I'm heavily reliant on tasker and webapps like voyager that I'm using to access lemmy right now.
Yeah I'd had my eye on this for a bit, it seems disappointingly bare-bones in terms of features which is a shame. Guess I'll be sticking with the increasingly-broken neo/omega launcher for a while!
I used to like it but it randomly crashes on my Samsung phone
It still doesn't support colorized adaptive icons? Like in the legacy version, the Gmail icon is red, and the messages icon is blue. In this version, these and other icons all have white backgrounds, and I can't find any combination of settings that fixes it.
