When people talk about returning the cart after shopping, does that include putting it in a corral, or do you have to take it all the way to the front of the store to be a good person?

  • The customer is king.

    If the customer prefers higher prices and leaving the carts wherever they please, that's fine. If the customer preferes lower prices and doing the bit of extra work of returning the cart, that's fine too.

    It's like a vote, the more people vote option 1 the higher prices are going to be, the more people pick option2 the lower prices are going to be.

    However I assume the effect of one additional full time wage to manage the carts is probably not going to affect the prices beyond pennies at most.

    TBH though IDK.
