That wedge shape may not be as aerodynamic as Elon Musk hoped
More terrible range estimates incoming.
Jalopnik is mostly just quoting stuff from another article that was quoting forum posts. So its basically hearsay at this point. Still, its further evidence that Cybertruck's range is utter crap (and these original posts seem legitimate, as they originate from pro-Tesla sites).
I have like 40,000 karma and thousands of posts over months, but sure I’m a Tesla bot account who was waiting for this moment to say Tesla is shit. You got me.
This post was reported, so I'll talk about it here.
I recognize that you've been called a bot, and therefore you feel the need to "hit back". That's fine. But note that this discussion is getting too heated now and we need to take a step back and have a breather.
Further discussion in this topic will be more tightly moderated.
@demesisx@infosec.pub: Please don't call other users bots unnecessarily. I think we're all in agreement with the facts here. Tesla EVs can theoretically change their range with software updates, but such changes remain small and relatively unsubstantial (~5% range). Tempers have gotten testy here somehow. In my experience, its important for me to nuke discussions from orbit to stop them at this point. Please do not continue upon this insulting-path. I'm deleting many replies in this topic now to help calm things down.
I don't know how you're browsing KBin, so it may be showing up incorrectly for you but that comment was a reply to a different person calling me a bot.
I was saying 40K karma and the massive brand-risk things I say daily proves I'm not a bot.
There's some kind of misunderstanding between you and @eltimablo. I've removed both of your posts / insult-fest from below. Please be nicer.
As far as I can tell, everyone agrees that Tesla regularly lies about range estimates. But also EV firmware updates can change ranges (though only through small amounts: like 5% due to various software optimizations and the like). I think the disagreement between the two of you was revolving on how much this matters. But the bulk of both of your points seemed to be agreed upon, so I'm confused why the discussion got out of hand.
How does any of this relate to "software updates can improve EV range" in any way whatsoever? In no way have I suggested that Tesla didn't lie about their ranges.
As a moderator: I'm cutting off the discussion from here. Below are a bunch of stupid insults between the two users above. I get that tempers can get heated at times, but that doesn't mean the insult-stream deserves to stay unremoved.
What I’m saying is that any change brought in by a software update from A COMPANY THAT IS KNOWN TO LIE ABOUT RANGE, is not to be trusted. I’m not saying it’s impossible but taking Tesla at their word is why I’m mocking you.
I'm not taking them at their word, I'm speaking from the fucking experience of having gotten about 5% more range on my Model 3 after an OTA update and hearing similar anecdotes from other EV owners.
EDIT: Whoops, I mentioned a Tesla product again. Guess I have to kill myself twice now.
It’s like you aren’t even reading what I wrote. Unless you’re driving your car to 0, you’d have no way to know if your Tesla actually DID have more capacity or range vs them just lying to you about it. I can see why you really needed the last word here, you are one of the gullible idiots who owns one! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You haven't read a single word I've written, judging by how much you keep posting your beloved links to a lawsuit that, somehow, means that things known to electrical engineers for 50 years are no longer true.
Seriously, this shit even applies to 3D printers. Klipper firmware is capable of making a 3D printer both quieter (meaning less energy wasted as sound) and faster with no physical modification. If knowing that makes me a Tesla fanboy, then I suggest you reevaluate your criteria for that decision.
Thanks for doing this hilarious Tesla fanboi bit. You’ve given me quite a few laughs. Maybe you’d next like to explain how Elon Musk was playing 3d chess when he eliminated redundancy in Tesla self driving technology, choosing instead to rely solely on machine vision; a choice that predictably killed many people over the past few years.
At no point has this person defended Tesla. I get that you want to pick a fight with Tesla fanboys and have your script ready to go, but you should actually use it against people defending Musk. Go to the comments section of that verge article or go to Reddit instead.
Radar and ultrasonic have been added back to new models following a ton of work on the FSD model to make them function correctly. In fact, they made vision-only models for less than a year before returning to the previous confirguration.
Not only are you uninformed, but you're also an asshole.
Holy shit, the projection in this comment is so thick I couldn't cut it with a chainsaw. I was pointing out that range can sometimes improve late in an EVs life regardless of manufacturer (pretty sure Hyundai has had a similar update for the EV6) but because I said the word "Tesla," your mouth immediately filled with foam.
