Some of what escapes from a lithium cell is hydrofluoric acid. Google what that does to you and then be afraid.

As far as I know, it only happens when actively combusting. Not sure if it counts as actually combusting at the point in the meme?

Fair enough. Although the amount from a smaller battery shouldn't be too much. Just don't breathe near it.

Not sure if serious but just in case: why would there be any HF in a lithium ion battery?

It's a byproduct of thermal runaway failure.
