In an open letter to the political leaders, the CEOs of 10 of the largest oil and natural gas companies and the four largest pipeline companies outlined their plan to strengthen Canadian economic sovereignty.

The energy executives called for a simplification of regulation and a commitment to firm deadlines for project approvals.
They also want an elimination of the federal government's cap on emissions, the repeal of the federal carbon levy on large emitters and loan guarantees to help Indigenous co-investment opportunities.

- How about we use emergency powers to nationalize our natural resources. Stop them being exploited by foreign interests who then resell us our own resources at a higher price.

- Absolutely, they've been trying this line from the start of the tariffs and think that they can repaint pipelines to the US as patriotic.

- Isn't that gas refined in Sarnia and St John? Does the east get gas or diesel from the US refineries?
  
  Exactly. Why do we send oil to USA to be refined then for them to sell it back to us? We need to build our own refineries and other manufacturers so we can start producing value-added goods instead of simply exporting raw materials.
  
  The problem is the NIMBYISM and the financiers. One doesn't want them near them, and the others want them in the USA where they have retrofitted 10 refineries for our oil.
  Every province should have refineries and oil shipped from coast to coast to coast, and Nat Gas. Use the royalty money to better Canada as Norway does for its citizens and then start using the money to wean ourselves off petroleum.

  Yes NIMBYISM of the rich. They want all the profit, don't care about destroying the environment for profit, don't care about polluting the air, the water, the soil through their fossil fuels extraction, as long as we don't ruin their views. Tax the rich.
