It's instructions. It's actually from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Kubrick was a stickler for detail and worked closely with NASA on the movie, so I think that's what they thought it would be like on a commercial passenger spacecraft.

my nine-year-old recently wanted to watch this movie so we all watched it and when we got to the toilet instructions, I could not stop from busting out laughing. so funny!
You know it's not reality because people are reading the manual.
