Am I the only person who thinks that what Chelsea's done with registration for UECL is REALLY FUCKING DISRESPECTFUL to the players, and to the competition, and all the clubs within it?
I think it's been apparent for a while that Chelsea is devoid of principles. When they lose it will just be more egg on their face. If they win (ha) it will show they didn't need their full strength anyway, and the competition may be beneath them.
On one hand, yes, Chelsea have absolutely abused the loan and contracts systems to buy every young player under the sun and loan them out in the hopes of making a profit off of them. On the other, imagine being told by Todd Boehly and co that you are an important signing and that they see a future in the first team for you. How moronic do you and your entourage have to be to believe that?
I think how Chelsea treats players in general. I get Maresca wants to choose the best players for how he wants to play, but if that's the case then they should have been looking to move them on. They have moved some on, but they still have like a 36 player squad.
Apparently Chilwell was one that was excluded and Maresca doesn't see him fitting into his plans. Maybe there were no buyers or Chilwell doesn't really have any intention of moving on and is happy to just chill. It honestly makes me wonder why players bother to move there if they want to play for a legitimate team. If they're after a paycheck, they can just chill on the bench. If they even make it that far.
