I used to love Bill Nye and I dig it if he's supporting the movement, but isn't he actually quite a jerk in real life? I've heard that he's said things that really aren't nice.

I googled his controversies and it seems that most are just mad that he is left-wing or mad he went with a republican to get more funding for Nasa. I couldn't find anything about how he is personally.

I'd say he's a curmudgeon more than a jerk. I would be too if I spent my whole life trying to convince idiots that science is real. Source: I used to live in DC, and he did a lot of free talks and stuff around town.
