Approximately for the same reasons as Jews, leftists, and other "undesirables" would have been freaking out in the late 1910s, early 1920s.
I don’t know why people are downvoting me, honestly I was stating a true fact found on many many many news articles and other websites, to downvote me is to basically shame me for telling the harsh truth (it’s not even that harsh, or harsh at all)
Because the sentiment you're expressing there in parentheses was obvious enough.
