We're under a severe heat advisory this week and it's a delicate balance keeping our plants and myself from wilting, but some of our Musk Mallow (Malva alcea unless I'm mistaken) is blooming and they're lovely
We are going to move from our apartment to a lovely house in August. I'm looking forward to the new place. it's gonna be awesome for the family and me, but it means giving up my backyard garden in the middle of the season.
I have many plants in containers so it's not like I'll lose everything, but the move has a bittersweet note.
Hey, congratulations! And some condolences for the plants you'll have to leave mid season, that's a tough row to hoe. Are there plants you could reasonably take cuttings from to get a leg up at the new place and keep some of your favorites?
I'm thinking I'll leave the plants in the beds for the next tenants to enjoy. They'll be able to harvest the squash, tomatoes and physalis I planted. Apart from the strawberries it's all annuals which I can start from seed again next season so it doesn't hurt that much :)
And I have plenty of tomatoes, cukes, melons and other plants in pots so it's not like the season is lost altogether. All in all I'll be fine even if the season is cut short for most of my garden.
