Because there’s no algorithm to curate what you see. You can find the same content in the mainstream platforms if you look hard enough, unless the platform explicitly blocks them (i.e. nsfw on Threads). On the fediverse, there’s no algorithm that pushes or deprioritizes content, so you see everything as it is, and it’s up to you to curate your own feed to your liking.
Trans people interact with trans content and show support for it so the posts score well for the algorithm. Im a normie, I laugh and move onto the next normie meme, sometimes I remember to upvote.
Sometimes it really blows being a white, straight man approaching 40. At best we have no sense of community at all at worst people assume that I too am mad at "them" and what "they" are doing. Be it trying to corrupt the children/take our jobs/marry animals/control the banks/destroy science/enslave us to china. Forcing me to tell them to fuck off.
