Dont you, like, have to pay MONEY to get helped? Is the US just gonna start "helping" folks with no expectation of exploitative profit? Does the criminal justice system at that level actually do any benefit to those captive, and do they receive REAL not insane therapy that isn't just a giant tough love seminar they bill for?
Exactly. In concept, a judge can order psychological treatment, which should come from trained medical professionals. In practice, the US carceral state doesn't have a good track record of improving the lives of people who fall into its grasp.
Yeah, he traveled to Austin but police aren't saying whether he had any weapons... At this point it sounds like he may have been attempting to provoke a "suicide by cop" scenario. But there's not enough information to say that for sure. I'm just glad they caught the guy before he had the chance to carry out whatever he was actually there to do.
