I dropped it with a pop socket on the back and it landed right on the pop socket. You can see where it pushed through the display and caused that circular crack. It was maybe 80% as bad when it happened, the other 20% happened after using it for a year like that. I got so used to reading text only on the top half of the screen 🤣 I loved that phone so much I didn't want to get rid of it which I only did because large pieces of glass were coming out.
I ended up getting a Pixel 7 Pro. I only ever had Google phones before the 1+ so it made sense just to switch back after the direction 1+ took around that time.
It's a great phone. Love the elevator camera, no notch, nice size. Too bad they folded like the rest of the industry and now only do notches or punch holes. Did you put a screen protector on it or how did you not cut yourself on that mess :D?
I'm hoping one of the next pixels comes with an underscreen camera, then I can get one to put grapheneos on it.
The screen protector got f'd up from the drop so I ended up taking it off. How did I not cut myself on it? Well I would say that's an awfully bold assumption of you. The micro shards that came off at first were tolerable but when larger pieces started coming off I got a new phone 😂 I really loved the phone. The camera was just such a neat idea and a cool party trick too!
For some reason I can't see underscreen cameras taking off anytime soon in a mainstream way. If Apple ever does it then a lot of Android phones will too. That's my prediction.
I've got back to stock Android just for the simplicity of it. I've always loved to tinker around but I've grown tired of having to constantly keep up with Magisk and all the different work arounds just to keep my phone functional. Maybe when this phone becomes EOL I'll give custom ROMs another shot and hopefully I can recapture that magic again.
