You can do VSCode, which is FOSS, contains integrated AI, and you can even complain about Micro$oft at the same time as a bonus!

In fact to add to this, VSCode downloaded binary from microsoft is not at all FOSS. I use VSCodium which doesn't push AI

Some of the plugins are not foss
I like Kate better. It is also a lot faster to open.
