To be fair, same thing happens to people who claim that earth is flat.
- Just ask a person who thinks the earth is flat to scientifically prove it. They can't.
  A person can use a lake and a pair of binoculars to calculate the circumference of the spherical earth.

  They also proved it round with a gyroscope in the same documentary (Behind the Curve - a great watch)
  
  Reminds me of Galileo being prosecuted for defending his belief that the planets revolved around the sun (heliocentrism). The earth isn't flat, but turns out the universe is. One would hope that would be enough for them.
  
  I was gonna say they could look at a photo but I'm assuming that if were the case they wouldn't be flat-earthers.
  I mean despite them being able to use telescopes and seeing other spherical shaped planets.
- If the earth is flat, what is at the center? Is North America at the center? I once tried projecting the NASA high res earth texture onto a flat disc in blender, for a laugh, and quickly ran into that problem. If the earth is flat, then how are the continents arranged, such that travel times AND the travel of celestial objects and constellations makes sense?
  
  The North Pole is the answer I've seen given. At least some of them believe that the azimuthal equidistant projection map on the UN's emblem is what the world really looks like from above
  
  Tried that one too. Shit gets pretty fucky with how celestial bodies traverse the sky, as well as equatorial and southern hemisphere travel times pretty quick.
  
  Well no, it doesn't make sense, but if that was an obstacle to them they probably wouldn't be flat Earthers
