Turning off that feature sure was among the better choices when it comes to my social media use and mental well-being. Knowing Lemmy, it's probably my choice of transportation.
Are you living alone? That’s the only way I can make those numbers add up. I’ve got a similar lifestyle but repairs/food/dependants mean I need a significantly higher income to break even AND save for retirement.
I'd be living even cheaper than this if I was living alone. My average monthly expenses for the past 3 years have been 2989.22€ including retirement investments.
okay. €. Here's the catch. ask the americans what they pay for health insurance and childcare...
Why do I need to ask that? I know it's expensive.
Why do I need to ask that? I know it’s expensive.
Because what you're stating about your budget doesn't take into consideration the social safety you're leveraging that americans have to allocate additional budget for (or risk the consequences).
This isn't a competition
but it's misleading through and through. what's the median household income where you live?
I don't know why you're looking to argue about it but I'm not interested. I simply stated that where I live 100k a year would take you so much further than it does in the US. Take care now.
No, you didn’t mention “than in the US,” so people assumed you were sharing an American perspective under an article about US states’ cost of living.
Greetings from your southern neighbor!
yup. many people don't understand that while salaries are lower in the EU, your taxes cover actually life-changing governmental services the US doesn't. (i personally know both perspectives)

it took you 5 posts to tell us you're not in the US. it's simply impossible to interpret your takes without context. you'd need twice as much money in the US to have a comparable lifestyle.
Really? I would have guessed jealousy, like a petty "tHeY hAvE iT EaSy" or something else small-minded. Either way, kudos!
