I've heard no fault divorce, haven't read too much into it. But rape is illegal. In the article he mentions things down to 4th degree rape being an inappropriate smack on the butt and being able to prosecute that under law is absurd.
I live in Washington state where notoriously in a divorce the wife wins custody of the children, child support, and half of everything if there was no prenup. My friend who got divorced in 2017 had to sell his home and give half of the money made to his ex wife. She didn't have a job during their marriage. She also filed for divorce. Not him. He didn't just lose his wife, he lost a lot of his financial gain he believed he was building towards something in a marriage that lasted 5 years. I get that it's both parties that need to recoup on the 5 years they believed they lost in a non working marriage.
The idea that you can simply say "don't like this anymore, I'm leaving and taking half your stuff if not more" is a legal nightmare for many. I get it's there to protect women, and no one here wants to abuse their wives. The law is a double edged sword and there should be scrutiny in applying it.
There's a reason why "men can be victims of domestic abuse" are becoming a little more popular. They've been neglected, especially here in the Seattle area where men almost indefinitely lose their rights in an event of a divorce.
