Okay, but "that is entirely your fault, grandma" generates a lot more discussion than "yeah, but you were a participant in a system along with billions of others which hid its externalities until it was too late to do anything about them"
I certainly don't feel like others share the same level of anxiety about climate change as I do. I want a return to those first few months of Covid lockdown. Remember when the air almost immediately got better? The common First World citizen lives in an age of decadence that they take for granted. If you say anything to them to challenge that they don't deserve or need to be able to fly to another country or to be able to eat fresh fruits from half way across the globe or that maybe their latest fashion, they get hostile. They've been brainwashed into a state of entitlement by the elites and when you point that out, they cite the very same elites that they are enriching as the real culprit. Like, yeah, no shit. The elites are the ones killing us all, but who's enabling that to happen. I felt next to nothing from the lockdowns because I've been trying to minimize my footprint for years, but my twat friends want me to drive an hour to watch some Hollywood slop with them. Probably something like Don't Look Up, so they can feel proud about having the right opinion on something.
Anyone not boycotting the companies poisoning the world is complacent. We're all in this together, but it sure as hell feels like the common man is sabotaging the next generations.
