One friend, no other friends is one method I'm familiar with.

i don't believe in best friends tbh, i think it's a childish concept. just have good friends, you don't need to rank them.

i don't understand the point of having "lower rank" friends. if someone's not as good a friend, why are they a friend at all? that's an acquaintance.
